Luke's Tower

After Sarah went to bed last night, Luke got out his blocks. He built a tower for Daddy.

Salmonberries...

Salmonberries....the blackberry of Alaska.... are awful to eat of the bush in my opinion even though Sarah loves to eat them. They do make very yummy jelly. We went picking twice last week and ended up with over 4 gallons of berries from one area on the Coast Guard base. You don't have to worry about stepping on a snake when you are wading through the bushes, just bears and poochki, but at least you can easily spot both of those.

I love you dada!!!

Off the Beaten Path

Yesterday, we went adventuring and found a very remote beach to have a picnic on. We didn't have to share it with anyone. Justin even pulled the guns out. I shot my Christmas present for the first time, and with Justin's assistance, Luke shot it too. It was definitely one of my favorite discoveries so far.

Fishing....again.

Justin decided we needed to go fishing on Tuesday to celebrate the sunshine. We had a very successful day, catching 7 halibut, lots of big pacific cod, ling cod, and other strange looking fish.

You can see everything from the water.

The Captian and First Mate

Would it surprise you to know that you can get a sunburn in Alaska? :)

A Sad Good-bye

We had Aunt Caroline with us all summer long on our many adventures, but we had to give her back. Luke misses his snuggle buddy. Thanks Aunt Caroline for all your help. We miss you.

Say Cheese

We went to the beach to climb the rocks and burn a little energy. The weather has been wonderful with blue sky, really bright sunshine, and warm temperatures.... well warm for here anyway.

Thank you Great-Grandma for all our clothes and fun treats.

Pool Time...

Today, we checked out the pool on base. It is really nice!!! I can tell that it will be somewhere we frequent. Luke didn't want to leave. He was so busy he wouldn't stop for a picture.

Day at the Playground

After lots of cloudy days, we had a beautiful sunny day and decided we better enjoy it. We went for a long walk and played on the playground near our house. Sarah's favorite is to swing. Luke loves to ride on the motorbike.

The Boys....

Justin and Luke were snuggling on the couch watching TV before 7:00.

I guess they were both tired. :)

Yard Work

We got outside this weekend and planted plants. Luke had a blast getting dirty.....Sarah did too.

HAPPY FOURTH!!!

Happy Fourth!!! We hope everyone had a wonderful day!!!

With such beautiful weather outside, we decided to journey up Old Woman's Mountain behind our house. Here is our neighborhood from above about halfway up on our hike. Our house is the second from the left on the outside street.
We heard it wasn't a bad hike. Well maybe it isn't when you are not carrying two small kids up a very steep rocky path that is never ending.

WE MADE IT!!! It was defnitely worth the calorie burn.

The Emerald Island

Kodiak is known as the Emerald Island. We are beginning to see why. Spring is finally in full swing. The mountains are being carpeted with thick green ferns, grasses, and other green plants. Wild flowers are growing everywhere. God's creation is amazing.

Dress Up with Aunt Caroline

Caroline got Sarah all dolled up. Isn't she cute?

Thank you Oma for my new beads!

Halibut Fishing

We, I mean Justin, decided to be very adventurous and take everyone out halibut fishing. He was a marvelous captain. We ended up catching 8 halibut, 1 cod, and lots of rockfish (Luke nicknamed them- poky fish or ugly fish).

Luke loves to reel his little pole and was desperately trying to catch a fish so while I distracted him, Justin put one of the baitfish on and cast it for him. Luke was so proud of his fish. He wanted to hold it and take a picture with it.
