Salmonberries...

Salmonberries....the blackberry of Alaska.... are awful to eat of the bush in my opinion even though Sarah loves to eat them. They do make very yummy jelly. We went picking twice last week and ended up with over 4 gallons of berries from one area on the Coast Guard base. You don't have to worry about stepping on a snake when you are wading through the bushes, just bears and poochki, but at least you can easily spot both of those.

Poochki (aka Cow's Parsnip) is a big plant with white flowers that gives you a reaction worse than poison ivy.
